Welcome 2024!

January 19, 2024

I always like transitioning to a new year. I especially like changing the calendars out (I still use a paper calendar and planner, although the efficiency of electronic calendars is impressive). There is something therapeutic about closing one year and opening another.

The quiet of the Holidays also give me time to map out an annual plan, and this year is no different.

Last year, I found some interesting synergies between what I have been doing the past few years and what some high-hazard industries need. It became apparent that I need to better communicate what HH Risk Control, LLC, has to offer. To that end, I’ve set up this website, and will be maintaining an active blog.

I also have some writing projects that have been festering for some time. Some of these are technical aviation works, but others are fictional tales I’d like to tell. More on that as I progress.

2024 will be interesting. We have international challenges in Ukraine, the Middle East and Taiwan. We have an election upcoming. Amid all this geopolitical uncertainty, the energy industry is reckoning how to navigate its transition. And, on top of all that, aviation is experiencing re-emerging risks in air traffic, aircraft certification and flight operations.

Perhaps all of this simply shows that we live in an unstable world, proving the need for ‘hands on the controls.’

That’s why I named my company HH Risk Control, LLC.

Rather than ‘managing risk,’ which sounds somewhat disengaged, I believe risk has to be actively controlled… hands and feet on the stick and rudder, to use aviation imagery.

Of course, this is from a guy that likes paper calendars.

Keep in touch….
